Deep Fryers make amazing and delicious food when used properly, but they can cause damage to property or even injury those in the vicinity of the fryer if not used correctly.
Here are a few Turkey Deep Fryer Safety Tips...
Before you use the deep fryer, read the instruction manual and follow the directions carefully.
Never use the fryer indoors and use if off decks, out of garages and a safe distance from your home.
Place the fryer on a level surface.
Always ensure someone is keeping an eye on the fryer, never leave it unattended. Watch the thermostats and internal temperature to make sure it stays in a safe zone. Keep the kids and pets/animals away from the cooker even after you are done as they stay hot for awhile after use.
Don't put a frozen turkey in the hot oil. Oil and water don't mix and the oil could spill over causing a fire or explosion. Thaw and dry the turkey completely before cooking.
If a fire does start, don't use water to put the fire out. Instead use a fire extinguisher and if needed call 911.
Use oven mitts or pot holders, the fryer handles will be very hot.
